Are you ready to reclaim your time and rise above the digital noise? The Nature Unplugged 28-Day Challenge is designed to help you reset your relationship with technology, reconnect with nature, and improve your mental and physical well-being.

This isn’t just a quick detox—it’s a commitment to building healthier habits in the digital age. If you’re ready to make a meaningful change, the challenge begins May 1.

Bonus: Participants who complete both the pre- and post-challenge surveys will be eligible to win some great prizes!

How It Works

1. Make it official & register now. — Register here!

2. Put your game face on and mentally commit to the challenge.

3. Complete this short pre-challenge survey by May 1, 2025 (takes approximately 3 minutes).

4. Review the seven daily practices and recommended items to get started (below).

5. From May 1 to 28, observe all seven rules every day. We’re using the honor system, folks.

6. Complete the post-challenge survey before May 31, 2025 (sent to the email used to complete the pre-challenge survey).

7. Celebrate your new relationship with technology, nature, and yourself!

What You’ll Need

The Essentials: You don’t need much to get going, but these things are necessary to begin.

  • Alarm clock—Analog. No smart tech features.

  • A home for your phone—Think charging station, basket, etc.

Recommended Items: Optional, but helpful.

  • Book or magazine (for the bathroom)

  • Analog games, books, etc. for unplugged evening time

  • A journal

What You’ll Receive

  • Complimentary access to our virtual 'Nature Unplugged Advocate Workshop,' scheduled for May 15, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm PT.

  • A downloadable copy of our 'Nature Unplugged Resource Kit.’

  • A series of emails (opt-out anytime) with tips, resources, and research to motivate and inspire you throughout the challenge.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not allowed during digital curfew or sleeping. Okay for the rest of the time. 

  • Take time to reflect on if it’s absolutely necessary for you to be reached. If so, it’s okay. Don’t use it for anything other than critical purposes. 

  • Okay: 

    • Kindle paper white

    • Music

    Not okay:

    • Smart phones, tablets, laptops, tv’s, video games, podcasts, etc.

    • Phone and video calls, texts

    • Any device or software that engages you with dynamic or curated content

  • Using social media for work is common and appropriate while participating in this challenge. It’s less common to need to use a personal account for professional purposes—if this is the case for you, reflect on if it’s truly necessary and what other options might be more appropriate.
