SANTA MARGARITA COUNTY PRESERVE
Acquired to preserve the resources and picturesque scenery of the Santa Margarita Valley, this preserve offers an outdoor escape to residents of the Fallbrook area. The 221-acre lush river corridor contains riparian and upland habitats. Raptors are a common site overhead or perched in trees. Deer and other large mammals rely on the river for their water.
Two miles of non-motorized multi-use trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, with an equestrian staging area, horse corral and portable restroom. Fishing is not allowed.
Rich in wildlife, the preserve is also rich in cultural history. For centuries, the abounding resources in the river valley sustained Native Americans. Now preserved in perpetuity, this stretch of the river valley will define the natural beauty of Fallbrook and the County for generations to come.
