Garnet Peak via PCT
Hikers can access the PCT from the Penny Pines Trailhead along Sunrise Highway. From here, follow the PCT north. There are great views of the surrounding mountains and rolling landscape. A spur trail travels off of the PCT and heads to the summit of Garnet Peak. The top of Garnet Peak is a rocky summit at 5,920 feet.
Wildflower Trail
This is a moderately challenging 2.8 mile loop located near Rancho Santa Fe, California. This trail begins from Fortuna Ranch Road and follows and follows part of South Alpaca Alley Trail. It features some excellent views to the west and meanders alongside Escondido Creek as it travels along Spooks Canyon Trail.
Sweetwater Trail Loop
The Sweetwater Trail is a 3 mile loop that heads toward a rocky ridge. There are tangles of oak trees all along the trail. You'll hike through scrub, rugged, green vegetation with sporadic, vibrant wildflowers. As you continue, the trail heads into the Sweetwater River, where the canyon's dense vegetation is blooming.
Many unique wildlife species can be seen in this area, such as the California Buckwheat, Blue Elderberry, Arroyo Toad, and the uncommon Least Bell's Vireo.
Blue Sky Canyon Trail
We will be hiking the Blue Sky Canyon Trail. Head out on this 5.3-mile loop trail near Poway, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular area for birding, hiking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
Blacks Beach Walk (Earth Day Beach Clean-Up)
Earth Day Beach Clean-Up! Meet us at the Torrey Pines Gliderport parking lot and join us for a hike down to Black's Beach, picking up trash along the way!

Annie's Canyon via Santa Carina Trail
We will be hiking to Annie's Canyon via the Santa Carina Trial. Explore this approx. 3.5-mile out and back in Solana Beach, California. Generally considered an easy route.
Sweetwater Trail Loop (In Partnership with AARP)
Join AARP California and Nature Unplugged and come explore the Sweetwater River Trail. This outing includes guided activities using the Five Pathways to Nature Connectedness to promote physical and mental well-being. Let’s Take It Outside™ events explore public outdoor places. Free and open to the public.
